I have to travel to Greece tomorrow but I think the country’s situation is pretty bad, is it safe?
admin on Oct-30-2011
My flight is to Athens from 20th October to Tuesday the 25th. I’ve read in the news that there are riots everywhere and that museums or even bus stations are closed due to the situation. Is it as serious as it looks to cancel my flight or should I still travel?
Your fine, the protesters have no problem with tourists. If you’re a banker then it might be a different situation. Just watch out for strikes that may interfere with your travel plans.

Hello Meghan!
The riots are taking place in the center of Athens. Just keep in mind that they are going to stop tomorrow. In my opinion , you should still travel. It’s nothing to worry about, trust me.
Hope I helped.

I am afraid that traveling now is not the best idea, if you keep away from the centre when you hear riots there will not be any problem but you must know that if you manage to arrive, the hole country is paralyzed. Some things may start to work again but you should know that hospitals, schools, shops, pharmacies, museums, archaeological sites, buses, trains, ships, trams, subways, airports, lawyers, ministries, trucks, sanitation department and many more are shut down temporarily or periodically. This may cause… problems with your visit. Also beware, the sanitation department hasn’t worked for almost 2 weeks so athens is REALLY smelly right now… If you don’t go to Athens you will be just fine. All the trouble is in the capital.

Ask from someone who is in Greece whats the situation presently. If it is not good, then you must not go these riots are really very bad. I am tour operator, i can suggest you this. I have a blog also http://kesari-tours.blogspot.com/, please check it out.

I wouldn’t if I were you
with all the strikes you might end up getting stuck at the airport and/or the sights will be closed
wait until later
