Holidays in Greece, preferably by Athens?

I’m looking for all inclusive holidays, with good pools, and lots of entertainment, suitable for young children between 8 – 15. Please with a trustworthy company such as Thomas Cook.

Are you sure you want to stay in Athens? I think that an island would be more pleasurable.

    If you want a lovely little seaside town …then head for the Pelion penisular in mainland Greece.
    If you get to Volos(central Greece)…then its 25 minutes drive up a mountain and down the other side…to a lovely peaceful seaside town…with few tourists. Or use Volos as your base…then you can head down to Athens…or up to Thesalonika and the seaside resorts up north. Hire a car and see Greece…theres loads of lovely little towns to visit.

    I understand that you want to combine a resort with the idea of seeing the interesting parts of the capital, Athens, maybe Akropolis, the akropolis museum, Plaka, elc.

    You should search then, in the southern suburbs of Athens.
    The most close to Athens is Glyfada (13km from the center of Athens). After 1 more km you will find Voula, then Vouliagmeni, Varkiza, Saronida, Lagonissi, and finally Sounion wich is almost 60 km from center.
    All of the above have nice resorts for all budgets and they have nice beaches.

    The closest ones to center (starting from Glyfada) have very good public transport connecting to the center, like buses or tram. Glyfada also have many boutiques and bars, restaurants, etc.
    Of course the islands have perfect sea water but the seawater in these suburbs is very good as well and cosidering the combination with being to the capital there is an advantage for what you need.

    Tip: when asking for Glyfada, be sure that it is the Glyfada of Attica, Not the one in Corfu.
    In Voula the Divani resort is perfect.
    If you chose a resort from Varkiza to Sounion, you will definitelly need to rent a car, for the others not.
    Pireus port is not far from Glyfada even Voulaiagmeni, so you can visit some islands. There is even a daily cruise visiting 3 islands: Aegina, Poros, Hyrda.
