Is anyone here Greek or has travelled to Greece? I have a small question.?
admin on May-5-2011
I will need to get from my hotel in Evia to Zante (zakynthos).
I understand how first I will need to cross alot of mid main land and get to Patras, then catch a ferry.
My question is.. is there any buses that go from Evia to Patras? Which is the best route to take?
Should I even result to catching a cab?
Thanks guys.. im only 21 and im going with one girlfriend. I want a quick, easy, cheap, and safe way across.
Just as well you’ve only got ”one girlfriend.” Otherwise it would have to be a luxury Coach!
Get a bus, taxi will be very expensive.
Contact the local bus company:
KTEL EVIAS
http://www.ktelevias.gr/contact
And they will tell you. what to do.
There might also be a train connection but I cannot help you there.
Also you could ask your hotel staff to help you.

Personal Experience.
I think you’ll need two buses, one from Evia to Athens and one from Athens to KYLLINI, not Patras. I’m not aware of any ferries from Patras to Zakynthos but there’s several every day from Kyllini, which is about another 60-90 minutes on the bus. Also, I think the bus from Evia-Athens will use a different bus station to the Athens-Kyllini bus, so you’ll have to get from one to other. Taxi *might* be best for this but don’t even think about a taxi from Evia – Kyllini, the cost would wipe out Greece’s national debt. This is a long journey!
Edit: From Athens there will be a bus (several a day) that goes to Zakynthos, price includes ferry ticket. See http://www.ktel-zakynthos.gr/en-external-routes.html
Might be worth contacting them as there’s a Thessaloniki-Zakynthos bus, depending on it’s route, and where you’re staying on Evia, this might be more convenient.

Willy has given you the best answer so far since that way you will avoid taking more than 2 buses.
Take the Evia to Athens station and there take a taxi to the other depot and from there take the Zakynthos bus directly to the island.
The Thessaloniki bus to Zakynthos does not get anywhere close to Evia, and then there is a risk waiting for it at some point of the road that will have to be predermined with the KTEL in Thessaloniki,
