What do I need to know when traveling to Greece?
I want to go on vacation to Greece from the United States. What city would you recommend I stay in, what sights are there to see, preferably in drive-able or walk-able distances from each other?
I’ve always wanted to go because from pictures it looks beautiful in certain spots.
What specifically should I know, as far as money, languages, etc.
Where is this? What is it called? Would I be able to go to it and stand on those stairs? http://www.citypictures.org/r-europe-148-greece-226-thalassini-church-cyclades-islands-greece-2810.htm
I realize this is a very packed question, but I definitely could use some help.
Would you recommend going to Greece?
Thankssomuch.
Victoria.

In the limited time you will have for your vacation the best you can do is to spend a few days in Athens and the travel to Santorini and possibly to Crete.

City. I would recommend Thessaloniki, as it is the most interesting, and all the sites are within walking distance.
I wouldn’t recommend going to only one city though.
Meteora, Thessaloniki, Athens, Delphi, Peleponesia, Vikos Gorge, Athos, Mylopotamos Beach, and maybe Olympus, and you HAVE to visit at least one island!
The absolute MUST SEES though Meteora, Thessaloniki, Athens, Delphi, and one island.
Money, they use Euros, but everything is damn expensive! Some places might not take credit cards so find an ATM and draw some cash.
Language, most people speak English, but some don’t. It’s nice to know a few Greek words, like Kalimera, Kalispera, Eufxaristo, Parakalo, they like that.
As for the pic, it looks like Mykonos. And you prob. would, but don’t go to Mykonos. Choose more nicer island.
As for where to stay, if you wanna travel around, I suggest just stay in a different place every day, or stay in a place that’s centraly located. Travel distances aren’t that long.
And yes, I would highly recommend! It’s an expereince you’ll never forget!

Greece is definitely recommended. There is a lot to see and do but because the list is exhaustive, the best thing for you to do is a web search. Try narrowing down your search to the things you would personally like to see and do. Archaeological sites can be found almost anywhere in Greece, but if you want to see something specific, you have to know where it is…Currency is the Euro and the language is Greek-but as in any EU country you will have no problem communicating in English.
