Moving to Kiev Ukraine from Greece. Jobs, Tips and Information…plz?

admin on Feb-7-2012

I am from Greece and I am moving to Kiev, Ukraine in twenty days for a few months to live with my fiancee who is currently studying there.
I speak, read & write excellent English and Greek (Academic level), but I don’t know Russian or Ukrainian.
I am a musician and a P.R. representative and I have been working with translation, entertainment and public relations my whole life.

My primary question is: Are there any jobs that I could pursue, or anyone I could ask for help regarding the above.. My residency in Kiev will be much easier if I find a job, and that way I can ensure that I don’t have to come back to Greece at least until my fiancee has finished her degree.

Furthermore, any tips or general info regarding lifestyle in Kiev (people, society, transport, finances, politics, crime etc.) would be very helpful. Anything.
If you have links, please do share, it will be highly appreciated.

Thanks everyone in advance

Well, actually your fiancee must be the best guide))

As to finding a job, it’s possible if you’d be applying to foreign companies in Kyiv.
Also you can read smth in this medium – it’s popular Ukrainian magazines and newspapers that give news and analytics in English from the insider’s point of view

If you’re a musician you must be interested in visiting some music bars and clubs and galleries. Here they are, some of them:

Jobs for British people in Greece?

admin on Aug-1-2011

Just wondering if there are any long term career oportunities for British people in Greece, apart from the odd waiter-club tender-tourist-summer term jobs. Especially for someone that does not speak Greek, are there any particularly British companies that would have possible vacancies?

mmm… I don’t know if you are aware, but Greece is going through one of their worst economic crisis. Just look at the current news.

I wouldn’t go there to look for a job. By the way, you didn’t list any of your skills. What are you good at? Why would a company hire you instead of a Greek citizen?

More information would be helpful.

Why is it so difficult to find a job in Greece?

admin on Jul-30-2011

Baby, with your looks it will not be that difficult. And I don’t mean anything illegal or immoral, which anyway cannot be excluded.
Working as a waitress will get you a lot of tips. So where is the problem?
Do you want to be appointed CO in some company? Me too.

In Greece why do the black immigrants not have regular jobs but only sell things on the street?

admin on Jul-17-2011

Please do not report my question. I am not trying to offend anyone. I am just asking because I am curious. In Greece most black people I have seen sell bags on the street. Why are they unable to get regular jobs? Once again I am not trying to offend anyone. Please do not report my question.

They try to escape poverty in their country and work without visa. If someone is illegal (whether is in Greece or anywhere else) they can’t be hired since they don’t pay taxes. The only choice is to work illegally under the table or work on the streets selling goods
The latter is far more profitable and flexible
This goes for any immigrant not just the black immigrants you see on the streets
PS: The immigrant’s life is very tough, whether in Greece or abroad I hope these poor people get some decent income to live

Poll: Greece’s prime minister position, most unwanted job in Greece right now?

admin on Jul-11-2011

I can think of only Samaras wanting that job at the moment and i am not really sure about him either

Not really. It depends on how "thick skinned" you are. If you have the skin of an elephant, and you don’t mind that half the population is outside the parliament yelling at you, then it’s a good job. You get to travel all over the world pretending you are working and, it pays well too!
Antonis is just jealous of how much of the world George has seen.

Thinking about moving in Australia for a better feature?

admin on Jun-13-2011

Things are going really bad here in Greece .People don’t got jobs and taxes and stuff are high.Me (17 years old) My sister (14 years old) and my mom (43 years old),have been informed that Australia got plenty of jobs and they pay really high in casual jobs like cleaner etc…Is that true??.Also my mom doesn’t know much English.Would that be a problem to find a job?

Please don’t tell me you can’t find casual jobs in Greece…. I simply don’t believe it. You’re talking about uprooting your family and moving to another country so that you can be a cleaner.

Is it possible for someone to find job in Greece this period?

admin on Jun-7-2011

I keep seeing people getting fired from their jobs. I just finished college and i can’t find a job either. No one hires anybody. For how long is this going to last? How can people go on with their lifes when there are no jobs? My family consists 5 people(younger is 17years old) and only 1 person has a job! It’s crazy.

If you are not in Greece already don’t even try to find a job here. Things are difficult for young people in particular but in general is really hard to get anything.

will it be easy to find a job in Japan if i m married to japanese? I m from greece and i have no degree.?

admin on Jun-1-2011

I m thiking quit my job in greece and marry in Japan.
What kind of jobs i will be able to find in tokyo?

You can find "a" job. There’s no guarantee it will be well paid/rewarding, but you can find work. I don’t know what kind of work you do now, so I can’t advise you. Maybe you could be a "priest" in a wedding chapel. There are definitely Greek restaurants in Tokyo so if cooking is your thing…

Is America sure to fail as an Empire just like Greece, Rome etc. etc. and other empires have in the past?

admin on May-6-2011

PLEASE READ AND GIVE YOUR HELP ON THIS MATTER

Sure people might laugh at this but history has a weird way of repeating itself. This countries quality of life is becoming…well..low….; Guess what Rome was doing before they were about to fail? They were Fat, they were Lazy, and ohhh guess what? They used slaves to make products and do all the hard work for them i.e. especially manufacturing. Sound familiar to anything like we have today? Fat,lazy people, stuff made in China; Wal-Mart being a good example maybe? 50 Years ago most young people would be working a good middle class job in steel work or something, and making in today’s money 60 grand a year or MORE….not..not happening to most people anymore, America is becoming deindustrialized and a second rate country at an alarming pace. Almost all empires eventually collapsed due to POOR FISCAL AND ECONOMIC POLICY, COUPLED WITH POLITICAL CORRUPTIONS sound familiar? Then get this, according to Alexander Tyler & James Olson two famous philosophers, Democracies and great empires come in 8 steps before they die and crumble to their knees. Note: They wrote this awhile back and it sounds exactly like what’s happening now and has already partially happened to America in the past. Read what they say bellow;

The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning
of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these
nations always progressed through the following sequence NOTE THE COMMENTS TO THE SIDES REGARDING AMERICA IS MY INPUT FOR THE BELLOW 8 STEPS:

>
1. From bondage to spiritual faith;-Founders of the country being oppressed by britain
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;-Taking on the British Empire
3. From courage to liberty;Declaration of Independence the Constitution
4. From liberty to abundance;-Right after WW2 Abundance of wealth and power was at it’s height in America
5. From abundance to complacency;50s 60s baby boomers loving everything still a strong economy and manufacturing.
6. From complacency to apathy;People today; their kids might be being killed in Iraq, and over 10% of people might be jobless….bahh juts get me another beer and let me watch TV I hate politics.
7. From apathy to dependence;Complete Government control; people can’t take care of themselves and are scared, things like socialized medicine that Obama is calling for etc. will take affect.
8. From dependence back into bondage; The government will become a total dictatorship with an oligarchy in charge probably bankers.

They predict that we are in ohh stage 6 right about now about to hit 7 in a decade or two if we are lucky. Most Americans can give two craps about what’s going on they are too apathetic in stage 6 and are worried about the super bowl and American Idol, and how they are going to get more sex. Meanwhile while you are worried about all these minuscule things, people working in China 16 hours a day for pennies were making your products and your jobs were going down hill; you didn’t care though, you just kept going to Wal-Mart and using credit cards, not knowing that you were actually paying for your own demise. What do people here think? Does anyone even really care anymore? When I try to talk to a lot of people about this it’s always ohh I don’t like politics. GREAT!! You will. You just haven’t been discomforted enough yet to care. Maybe when you are unemployed or can’t hardly eat anymore you will become more interested. So what do people here that care think we should do about this RIGHT NOW? How can we if it’s even possible save the American Empire?

we will be over run by mexicans .
