I am 23, from Scotland and i have had a new found belief in God since returning from Kos Greece in october 08?

admin on Feb-28-2011

I believe all the churches know something amazing is happening, my question to you is…What do you think the meaning of life is?
Well thats what you think and you are entitled to your opinion, some of your answers are insightful, i believe in science and religion. Most people think its money thats most important and what makes the world go round. . .or that is what silly people are lead to believe, but can you imagine a world without Letters or numbers? its THEM that are most important as they are gods code. . .science is his tools! The World has suffered long enough. My book will be out in 3 months. PSALMS "For he is our god and we are the people"

Since the original plan that God had for us was rejected by Adam and Eve’s sin….the meaning of life is now to have a relationship with God, so that we will prepared for the completion of the plan he has in the works now.

What career will let you travel/ live in europe?

admin on Feb-28-2011

I want to live in greece, italy, france, england, ireland…and live in pretty much every country in europe…but im from Cali…So im trying to find a job that will let me travel, so far all i can think of are teaching english (my obviously native language) or being a journalist/ writer…any suggetsions? any one have any experience in this area?

Airline flight crews, military, foreign service for the government, photo or print journalist, nature photographer. The people that do the most travel in the company I work for these days are supplier management people – particularly auditors. With globalization, a lot of supplied parts, materials and subassemblies come from far flung places around the world. You need to be aware that traveling for a job is not the same as travel on a vacation; it can be a great opportunity and rewarding. It can also be a lot of wear and tear – you really have to have the right personality to be on the road a lot.

Note that in order to live and work in Europe legally, you would need a visa that allows it. You can generally find information on the various consulate websites. For Italy, for example, the visa site is here: http://www.esteri.it/visti/home_eng.asp . EEA citizens have the right to live and work anywhere within the EU. Further, European regulations require that companies advertise jobs and demonstrate that there are no viable candidates before applying for a work permit for another foreigner. While there are languages schools in the area where I live in Italy, they only hire people from Europe to teach English – there is a big pool of candidates from the UK and Ireland that don’t require a lot of paperwork.

how long does it take to travel europe?

admin on Feb-28-2011

my friends and i are taking the train fron greece to italy, italy to spain, spain to france, and france to ireland. how long does it take to travel to each country?

I’ve been living here in Italy for the past 11 years and travel most weekends and holidays. I still have enough to see and do that I couldn’t do it all in my lifetime. As far as actual travel times, it makes a difference where you start from and where you want to end up. For example, to get from Ventimiglia in Italy to Menton in France takes only a few minutes by train, but going from Palermo to Paris takes 25 to 35 hours by train.

The German train website is a good resource for planning train travel throughout most of Europe: http://www.bahn.de/i/view/USA/en/index.shtml However, you won’t find a solution for a train trip from Athens or other points in Greece to rome or other points in Italy. You would need to travel around the Adriatic to do that. It would be much more reasonable to take a budget flight: http://www.skyscanner.it/ or http://www.whichbudget.com/
or take a Greek train to one of the places where you can connect to a ferry for Italy: http://www.greekferries.gr/ If you have a railpass, it will cover or at least provide a discount for the ferry.

Similarly, there is only one direct train from Italy to Spain that runs overnight from Milan to Barcelona and it does not run every day. You would need to make train changes for other starting and ending points or days when the direct train is not scheduled. Going from rome to Madrid would take 24 to 35 hours on the train. Flying s a much more convenient option in this case.

You cannot take a train from France to Ireland.

“Santorini sites” Pmontap’s photos around Santorini, Greece

admin on Feb-27-2011

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Santorini, Greece by TravelPod blogger Pmontap titled “Santorini sites”

Pmontap’s travel blog entry:

“We have had a wonderful time on this island. The Mystique hotel is gorgeous. They have individual suites built into the side of the mountain. They all have hot tubs in the rooms and face the ocean. We’ve met nice folks, most of them on their honeymoon. The food is delicious and healthy. And the staff fantastic.

We arrived around lunch time and sat outside overlooking the Aegean Sea. Amazing sites that you will see when I post the pictures. We all had a cocktail and for the first time were totally relaxed. We had no tours, no dates, no work meetings and it felt great. Bob and Karen shared lobster and spaghetti and I had an amazing shrimp and fois gras salad. YUM YUM. We then took a much needed nap and met later for dinner.

The first night we ate at Ambrosia. It is walking distance on a really cute street that’s filled with shops, markets and restaurants. I had an amazing Rissoto that was even better than what I make at home! The salads have also been great. Lots of seafood and cheese and amazing fresh vegetables. It was a wonderful meal and again the service was fantastic.

The bad news is that the weather for the balance of our time in Santorini turned cold. It rained and it was really, really windy. We watched movies and took a walk late in the day. Bob had an amazing desert that I took a picture of. The sun was out so I was also able to take some pictures with my cell phone.

Since it looked like it was going to stay cold through the 28th, we rented a car. This was a very special car. It had a soft top, but it was so torn up that they used scotch tape to attach it to the vehicle. The good news is that we were given a roll of tape………just in case. We drove to Fira (the capital) and did some wandering around and shopping. We also had the pleasure of meeting “Nick the Greek”. Again, pictures will follow. He’s a jeweler who seems to own half of the island. Karen and I were looking for something….we just didn’t know what it was. Four hours later, and after several glasses of wine, we left with some gorgeous unique pieces. We both bought a ring and I bought a matching bracelet, Karen also bought some cute earrings. Bob drank wine and enjoyed watching us try on all of his “special” pieces. At one point I had a diamond bracelet on that was worth over 150,000 euro. Each diamond was 1 full carat and it was just amazing, fantastic and it looked great on me!! I’m still mad I don’t make enough money to afford such lovely things. Maybe in my next life :) . That night we skipped dinner and went to bed early.

The next day we kept the car and decided to go wine tasting. Santorini is small and we had a great time driving around the island. The wines were good, especially their white wine. The prices were also good but the shipping was over 150 euro so we weren’t able to send any home. The two wineries we hit were Santos and Boutari. Santos has a great tasting room and the view from there was beautiful. Funny thing…..it was sunny and warm on the other side of the island!!!!! But cold and rainy at our hotel. Go figure.

On our last night in town we hit the hot spot of 1800. Delicious food and a cute little location. We sat in the non smoking side of the building and were surrounded by folks from the US. Again, most on their honeymoon. 1800 was also walking distance from our hotel and since it was Karen’s last night before she flew home to Sacramento we took our time and relaxed. Had some wine and some desert, and Bob and I had a cocktail back in our room. The next day was a travel day to wonderful Roma.”

The True (and Accurate) History of Greece, Part 17: Hubris – Civilization V (HD)

admin on Feb-27-2011

Welcome back to your reliable replacement for history class. All information presented is 100% true (and accurate)– from a certain point of view.

This first season is all about Greece, a small nation which suffered from the predations of Nobunaga’s Japan and Montezuma’s Aztec empire throughout its long existence. In this penultimate episode, Alexander humiliates Nobunaga before coming under attack, once again, by Montezuma.

“Samos, Greece” Amanda_odwin’s photos around Samos, Greece, Greece

admin on Feb-27-2011

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Samos, Greece, Greece by TravelPod blogger Amanda_odwin titled “Samos, Greece”

Amanda_odwin’s travel blog entry:

“Tuesday 11th September, 2007

What makes Samos our favourite Islands:

1) the beautiful lush green hills, fields and trees

Samos is by far the greenest islands we have been to. And its not just green its different shades, silver green from the olive trees, dark (racing green) from the fruit trees (figs, limes, lemons etc) it’s the pale green if the bamboo, it’s the green green grass .

2) it’s the green and blue of the stunning beaches

3) it’s the fresh fruit growing everywhere (that I pick) the grapes, limes, pomegranates, peaches, fresh figs

4) It’s the riot of colours that the houses are painted, red, orange, blue, green, pink, torquise, yellow (we are not speaking about pastel colours we are talking bright vivid colours (as well as the pastels))

For those of you who are into outdoors activity we would strongly suggest Samos. This is an island of hiking, biking (lots of bicyclists), swimming, wind surfing and plenty of walking.

The country side is just stunning, in fact it seemed that we were somewhere like Canada, parts of USA or even parts of New Zealand or Australia as it is just so ‘un Greece like’, in the sense that no where is anywhere like any other island we have been to in Greece.

Since we arrived here (07th September) – on the wrong ferry (one day early) we have done all the exploring of the island and today we will be going to the ferry ticket place to get a ferry ticket to our next island (we don’t know which one it will be yet.

Approximate Killometers travelled to date:

Cycling: 650 kms

Walked: 430 kms

Scooter: 400 kms

Boat: 1175 kms

Bus: 130 kms

Car: 745 kms

Grand total: 3530 kms”
