my family is going on vacation soon, and nothing is set in stone, but i just want to know about how long it takes to fly there. thanks!

No airline flies New York to Crete non stop so you’ll connect somewhere (Athens, Frankfurt, Paris, London, etc etc). A flight to Athens is about 10 hours; figure another 3 to make the connection and fly to Crete. Remember the time dif is 7 hours ahead so if you leave JFK at 6:00pm (1:00am) you’ll be on Crete the next day at about 2:00pm. RJ

the turkish army, needless to say, one of the strongest in the world, is going to have a 5 day military training in the aegean. i hear greece feels threatened! what steps will greece take? i’ve seen the strong greek commando squads chanting songs and feeling superior over macedonians, just a month ago or so. are they going to be deployed now, to chant the turks away? seriously, what’s the greek strategy?

If you don’t have Dutch citizenship and have an Non EU passport you have to have a visa to go to Greece. Having read your previous question about you in the Netherlands not having papers to live there. Your Dutch partner can live and work in Greece.

I am going on a trip to greece in a few days and my mother is telling me to send postcards to friends and family. She is telling me to send the postcards as soon as i get there or they will arrive after i get back. I wanted to know how long on average it takes to arrive.

‘Fraid this may be one of those times when Mom is right … I frequently travel back and forth between Greece and Southern California. While times vary, postcards seem to usually travel more slowly than regular mail and can take 10 days to two weeks to arrive.

By the way, many places that sell postcards will also sell you the stamps as well.
